Women all around the globe have been stuffing their lives into a pack on their backs and taking off on a trip around the globe.
“It’s dangerous for women to travel alone.”
“It doesn’t scare you being on the other side of the world alone?”
“Aren’t you afraid of getting lonely traveling by yourself?”
“What if something happens?”
These are all questions that many female travelers hear when they start planning to travel solo. These same questions are the ones that also stop many women from taking the plunge and beginning to travel solo themselves. It’s easy to watch that girl on Instagram with 50k+ followers and envy her, but it’s not always easy to get responses or to find answers to your questions. However, there is an app that is just for female travelers to help foster relationships and build a network for females who are interested in or are currently traveling. That app is called Nomad Her and it’s 100% free.
Nomad Her. She can travel anywhere.
Nomad Her was designed by a female for females. This private community said no boys were allowed. Period. (Sorry fellas, if we wanted to meet up we would’ve downloaded Tinder.) Upholding this is something that they take seriously as they want to provide a safe and comfortable environment for their users. To ensure compliance, you must be verified and approved before you can access the full app. Verification is a simple and smooth process. Simply provide the Nomad Her team with a selfie and a photo of your ID/passport and within 24 hours, except on weekends, you will receive a response stating if you have been accepted. Once you receive your acceptance, you can access the website immediately.
I have personally gone through the verification process and have zero complaints. It was very smooth and everything was handled professionally.
Find and connect with other like-minded female travelers.
Once inside the app, you are greeted with a clean and simple interface with 4 sections to explore. The first area is the lounge, which is a feed containing articles and posts from fellow users of the app. This is where you will be able to connect with other community members and establish relationships with one another through each other’s posts.
The next option is Travel Buddy and it is precisely what you think it is- a place for you to seek out another Nomad Her member to travel with. You can post your plans, allowing other members to connect with you or you can search for other members who are planning a trip or wanting to plan a trip to the same destination.
The third section is Travel Camp. This option is for women who are interested in meeting up with other travelers, but prefer a group setting. Travelers from around the world who operate a business or tour company host events for NomadHers to meet up and socialize, all while learning a skill! Currently, there are numerous dates set up for surfing and wilderness campouts. Previously on the app, I have seen a Startup Bootcamp for women wanting to start a business, group walking & hiking tours, and even dinner meet-ups.
Finally, your profile is the the last tab where you can add your picture and create a bio letting fellow Nomad Her members know a little more about you. You will also find a feed of your personal posts and travel buddy requests here so you can quickly locate them again.
Solo Female Travelers, you don’t want to miss out on this.
I have been using the app off and on for several months now and I would recommend it for all women who are interested in traveling. The community is very friendly and can provide you with first-hand knowledge about a variety of different destinations and topics. The founder, Hyojeong Kim, is very active and involved with the community so if you ever have questions or suggestions, she is easy to reach from right there in the app. Aside from the great community, the overall reward from this FREE app is worth downloading. As a quick reminder, here are some of the key benefits of the Nomad Her community:
Evenn if you are just in the idea phase and haven’t fully committed to solo female travel yet, download the app, get verified, and start chatting. It may help you make a decision that could change your entire world.
You can learn more about the app here or it can be downloaded through the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store.
