Las Vegas Hotels: Ranking My 5 Experiences From Best to Worst.
Viva Las Vegas, baby. I have ranked the five Las Vegas Hotels that I’ve stayed at for you!
I’m an avid Las Vegas traveler. With Allegiant Air, taking a weekend trip is cheap and easy so I frequently find myself hopping on a plane from a nearby airport. (One of the best parts of Allegiant is they cater to regional airports making trips even easier for rural communities.) There are so many different things to do in the greater Las Vegas area. Even if you don’t drink or gamble, Las Vegas is suitable for all ages to visit.
While I have technically been to Las Vegas seven times, only five of them were for leisure. The other two were business trips and I stayed in Henderson close to where my meetings were. While the hotel service was incredible, it was nearly a forty-dollar Uber ride one way to visit anything fun. So, I definitely recommend staying either on the Strip or on Fremont Street so everything is within walking distance.
Las Vegas Hotels Reviews & Ranking
This article will provide a general overview of each of the five Las Vegas Hotels that I stayed at. Hotels were located both on the Las Vegas Strip and Fremont Street. I have stayed in high-end hotels in Vegas and cheaper, grungy hotels. This article will discuss those hotels to provide you with a general idea of what Las Vegas Hotel you want to stay at on your next trip to Sin City.
1. Harrah’s
Las Vegas Boulevard — Cost: $$$
Location, location, location. That is what landed this one at number one. This hotel casino is located nearly smack dab in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip, making all of the main attractions within walking distance. The facility was clean and the staff were very friendly. The hotel has multiple different dining options, a gift shop, and even a rooftop pool available. It is a great hotel for anyone wanting to experience both a relaxing vacation and experience life on the Las Vegas Strip.
Price-wise, it truly depends on what you book. I traveled with family so we had a double queen room and it was reasonably priced, but not the cheapest stay that I have had while in Vegas.
2. Four Queens
Fremont Street — Cost: $$
I might be partial to the Four Queens because they upgraded me to a suite due to overbooking or it could also be from the slot machines treating me well during my stay, but this was an easy number 2 choice for me. The hotel is located in the middle of the Fremont Street experience. When you exit the casino portion of the hotel you are greeted with the the beautiful lights of the canopy above.
The casino itself captures the old-school and original Las Vegas vibe with its classic decor both inside and out. With that being said, it can give some individuals a more grungy vibe. I love having the whole experience so it didn’t bother me, but might be bothersome to others.
There are multiple different places to eat on site from fast food to fine dining, however, there is no gift shop or any other amenities within the hotel. If you need supplies during your stay, there is a Walgreens a block away and directly on Fremont Street. Four Queens was very reasonably priced and in a great location to experience the wild lifestyle that is displayed on Fremont Street.
3. Luxor
Las Vegas Boulevard — Cost: $$$
The Luxor was truly a beautiful hotel. My room was located on the 4th floor, which required me to use the inclinator that goes up the side of the pyramid to reach. (You can see these traveling up the side from inside of the hotel.) Fantastic service and a very clean facility.
The location is the reason that this hotel didn’t land at number two. The Luxor is located just one away from the very South end of the strip. This makes anything on the North end quite the walk (think Treasure’s Palace, Circus Circus, Trump Tower, The Strat, etc.) There is a monorail that travels through multiple casinos on that end of the strip, which is free to ride. You should expect a lot of walking regardless if you choose to stay here.
4. The D
Fremont Street — Cost: $$
I stayed at this hotel on Fremont Street as it was the cheapest option available for my travel dates. I expected the hotel to be very grungy and I was pleasantly surprised. From my room, I was able to look out and see the start of SlotZilla, the zipline over Fremont Street. The hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly. I did find myself lost after having a few drinks due to the maze of trying to find restrooms and the second-story gambling area.
Again, this hotel was great for a low-cost stay. There were several different dining options on site, but other than that most amenities you would need to find elsewhere.
One thing I did enjoy about this particular hotel was they had an Enterprise Rental Car Company within the casino. I was able to make a last-minute rental to visit the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon without having to stress about trying to find and then get to the rental company.
5. Main Street Station
Near Fremont Street — Cost: $$
The only reason this hotel and casino landed at number five was due to the location. It is one block away at the West end of the Fremont Street Experience. When traveling back to your hotel at night, leaving the lit Fremont Street area can be a bit unsettling, especially for female travelers. While I had no issues at all during this trip, it made late-night outings a bit more difficult just due to safety precautions.
One thing I did love about my stay here was the atmosphere of the casino. When you first enter, it’s like stepping into a time machine. The decor throughout the area is a luxury old Wild West theme and each unique piece tells a story about the history of Las Vegas. I wandered around for quite a long time looking at all of the different pieces that were on display.
The staff at the hotel were very courteous throughout our entire stay. The casino also had on-site parking, which is rare in these areas. Pricing was reasonable and the hotel room was clean. They had several restaurants within the facility that had incredible food as well.
Choosing Your Las Vegas Hotel
I have never experienced a bad hotel stay while visiting Las Vegas. When choosing where you want to stay there are a lot of different things to consider. There is no one perfect place to stay as everyone is visiting Vegas for different reasons. If you are heading to Las Vegas for your first time, or even if you are a seasoned Vegas Traveler, I recommend taking a look at my Las Vegas hotel destination checklist, which you can find here.
